Minjiang University

Minjiang University is located in Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian Province. It is a full-time undergraduate college established in 2002 with the approval of the Ministry of Education. Its predecessor was Fuzhou Normal College founded in 1958 and Minjiang Vocational University (abbreviated as "Minda", including Fuzhou Arts and Crafts School merged in 2001) founded in 1984. In 2010, Fujian Conservatory of Music founded by patriotic overseas Chinese Mr. Cai Jikun was merged into Minjiang University. The school is now a "National Party Building Demonstration University" cultivation and creation unit, a master's degree awarding unit, a key construction university in Fujian Province, a first-class application-oriented construction university (Class A), a demonstrative application-oriented undergraduate university and a provincial party building demonstration university.

The university has a glorious tradition of running schools. General Secretary Xi Jinping served as the president of Fujian University for six years (from June 1990 to May 1996) while working in Fuzhou, creating invaluable theoretical, practical and institutional achievements. He always insisted on "not being a nominal president", practicing "getting things done right away and getting down to business", advocating "hard work and frugality in running schools", and rapidly put Fujian University on the track of standardized and scientific school-running; he always adhered to the Party's leadership over the school, adhered to the socialist direction of running schools, and adhered to "five-pronged education, with moral education first". After Comrade Xi Jinping left his post as the president of Fujian University, he always had a deep affection for and concern for Min University, and cared about the school's reform and development. He personally promoted the establishment of Minjiang College, and sent congratulatory letters and messages for the school's anniversary many times. On March 25, 2021, General Secretary Xi Jinping returned to the school for inspection and research and delivered an important speech, which injected the soul of faith, provided the source of progress, and charted the path of development for the reform and development of Minjiang College in the new era.

The school has now become an applied undergraduate university with a relatively complete range of disciplines, a high level of education, and a certain influence. The school has 15 secondary colleges, 3 master's degree authorization points in business administration, electronic information, and journalism and communication, and offers majors covering eight major disciplines, including economics, law, literature, history, science, engineering, management, and art; there are currently 8 national first-class professional construction points, 2 national characteristic majors, 1 national first-class undergraduate course, and 4 national teaching achievement awards (including 3 cooperative awards); it has 3 provincial key disciplines, 1 provincial first-class discipline (plateau discipline), 6 provincial applied disciplines, and 3 provincial first-class applied construction university backbone disciplines. There are 20 provincial first-class professional construction sites, 5 provincial characteristic majors, 62 provincial first-class undergraduate courses, 7 provincial ideological and political demonstration courses, 3 provincial and ministerial modern industrial colleges, 3 provincial demonstration applied professional groups, 7 service industry characteristic majors, 5 provincial innovation and entrepreneurship reform pilot majors, 8 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, 4 provincial virtual simulation experimental teaching centers, 5 provincial practical teaching bases, and 5 provincial public basic course experimental teaching platforms; 49 provincial scientific research and innovation platforms are built, including 5 provincial key laboratories.

The school currently has about 17,000 full-time students and more than 1,000 full-time teachers, of which 95% have a master's degree or above (of which more than 45% have a doctorate degree). It has 178 national and provincial talents (including soft-hired), and 12 provincial teaching and research teams. The total campus area is 2,296 acres, the total building area is 621,100 square meters, the total value of teaching and research equipment is 586 million yuan, there are 2.0824 million paper books of various types, and 2.6657 million electronic books.

The school adheres to the principle of open education and carries out scientific and technological development cooperation with various counties (cities) and districts in Fuzhou City; carries out exchanges and cooperation with "Double First-Class" universities such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, Renmin University of China, University of Science and Technology of China, Xiamen University, Wuhan University of Technology, Donghua University, Jiangnan University, and Fuzhou University; conducts joint training of applied talents in Fujian and Taiwan universities with universities in Taiwan such as Feng Chia University, Chinese Culture University, and Shih Chien University; establishes friendly cooperative relations with more than 40 universities in Japan, the United States, Australia, Canada and other countries (territories); and cooperates with the European University of Cyprus to establish the Minjiang College of International Digital Economy, a Sino-foreign cooperatively-run institution without legal person status at the undergraduate level.
