About
Changzhou University (CZU), established in 1978, is a full-time public institution located in Jiangsu Province, China. Jointly supported by the Jiangsu Provincial Government, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec Group), and China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), CZU spans over 160 hectares, providing a modern, well-equipped campus for its students. The university comprises 21 schools and serves more than 20,000 full-time students, including over 800 international students.
CZU offers 78 undergraduate majors, with a strong focus on engineering, science, and management. Notably, three of its disciplines—Chemistry, Materials Science, and Engineering—are ranked in the global top 1% in the Essential Science Indicators (ESI). In recognition of its academic excellence, CZU holds a prominent position in Chinese university rankings, being placed 129th in the Best Chinese Universities Rankings by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy and 150th in the Chinese University Comprehensive Strength Ranking in 2020.
The university has developed a comprehensive educational structure, offering bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs, as well as a multi-level research and social service system. It has also earned national recognition for its distinctive and first-class majors, as well as engineering certifications from the China Engineering Education Accreditation Association (CEEAA).
CZU is highly active in international collaborations, maintaining partnerships with over 50 universities across 36 countries. As one of the top institutions in Jiangsu for international students, CZU began enrolling international students in 2009. Its international student body has grown rapidly, reaching over 800 students in recent years. Accommodation
On-campus international student dormitory is available and there are two types of room for choice on the principle of first come first serve.
Room type 1: One apartment with three double rooms, three bathrooms, one living room, one kitchen, three balconies
Room type 2: One apartment with two three-bed rooms, two bathrooms, one living room, one kitchen, two balconies
Facilities: Electrical appliances like fridge, washing machine, microwave, hot plate, air-conditioners are equipped, dinning table, study desk and chair are also provided.
Admission Process
Undergraduate Students
· Age: 18 to 25
· Education: High school degree with good academic records
· Language Proficiency:
o Chinese Majors: Score 180/ HSK Level 5 or equivalent
o English Majors: TOEFL (80+) or IELTS (6.0+), unless exempt
· Documents: Passport, transcripts, personal statement, language certificates, physical examination form, funding sources, non-criminal record, etc.
Master's/Graduate Students
· Age: 18 to 40
· Education: Bachelor’s degree
· Language Proficiency:
o Chinese Majors: Score 180/HSK Level 5 or 4 depending on the discipline
o English Majors: TOEFL (80+) or IELTS (6.0+), unless exempt
· Documents: Passport, transcripts, letters of recommendation, study plan, physical examination form, etc.
Doctor's/PhD Degree
· Age: 18 to 45
· Education: Master’s degree
· Language Proficiency: Same requirements as Master's level
· Documents: Passport, transcripts, letters of recommendation, research plan, physical examination form, etc.
Chinese Language Program
· Age: 18 to 60
· Documents: Passport, highest degree certificate, funding sources, physical examination form, non-criminal record, etc.
Regular Non-degree Programs
· Age: 18 to 30
· Education: At least one year of undergraduate study
· Documents: Highest degree certificate, personal statement, letters of recommendation, language proficiency (if applicable), passport, non-criminal record, physical examination form.
Advanced Non-degree Programs
· Age: Under 40
· Education: Master’s degree or above
· Documents: Highest degree certificate, letters of recommendation, research plan, passport, non-criminal record, physical examination form.
Scholar Program
· Age: Under 50
· Education: Doctorate or associate professor position
· Documents: Highest degree certificate, letters of recommendation, research plan, passport, non-criminal record, physical examination form.
General Notes
· Ensure all documents are authentic and accurately submitted.
· Applications must be complete for processing.
· Translations in Chinese or English are required for monolingual documents.
